Tyson Fury.

Tyson Fury Heavy Weight Champ – fact or fiction.

I watched the fight between Fury and Klitschko. It was terrible. It actually depressed me how bad it was.

Tyson Fury. Named after Mile Tyson. Yes he won. Yes he is champion, for now.

When the latest Ring Magazine came out and Fury was on the cover I was shocked. I thought this is just as bad as having Ronda Rousey on the cover. I put the magazine on the shelf and didn’t open it up. Disappointed.

As a big sports fan, I love watching Real Sports on HBO. When I tuned in to the latest episode I noticed Tyson Fury had a segment dedicated to him. I stopped watching, put the TV on record and thought I’ll save this for later.

I thought what is all this hype? I went back to the fight and watched it again, maybe I missed something. Maybe all these people see something I don’t. I mean I have only been watching boxing my whole life. I remember sitting with my Dad watch fights as a kid growing up. But I was right I didn’t miss anything it was terrible.

Then I watched the show Real Sports. And it was interesting. Fury’s dad in prison for beating a guy to death. Fury being a Jipsey, growing up in a family with hundreds of years of bareknuckle fighting under their belts. Etc. it was a good show. I learned a lot about Fury. I am not saying I like him, I don’t. But it peaked my interest.

I picked up the Ring Magazine today. I read it cover to cover as I do each month. Or nine times now a year now. I read about the reason they named him fighter of the year. And that peaked my interest, I won’t spoil the article for you, read it your self, but what I took away from the article was this.

Because Fury beat Klitschko the Heavy Weight division is about to get exciting. Fury rid us of the ever boring mechanical Klitschko. And opened doors for Wilder, Ortiz, etc. Klitschko has dominated the division for the better part of a decade. And it’s time to get excited about heavy weight boxing again. So if Fury is fighter of the year for opening a door to a more exciting heavy weight division! I’m all for it! If he gets hype and media for opening that door I’m ok with that! I’m excited for good fights, hard knockouts, and new contenders. If Fury is the guy that gets us there fighter of the year is all his!!
