Rocky 7 Creed

In the whispers of Hollywood it seems as though Sylvester Stallone will revive Rocky from the canvas one last time in the new Rocky installment to be named “Creed.” The basis will be Apollo Creed’s grandson taking to the squared circle and Rocky training him. Creed’s grandson is a privileged upper class kid who does not have to box because of the riches his grandfather “Apollo” left the family. Against the wishes of his family he takes up boxing, he is a natural…. The film looks to be promising.

Rocky: – Rocky I is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is a great boxing movie. I love the story, the fight and all that’s in between.

The movie that really got me into boxing more than boxing it self was Rocky IV. When he was pounding away on Ivan Drago and he was representing the USA in the biggest fight ever between heavy weights and Drago was spouse to destroy Rocky, but Rocky kept coming back again, and again, and again I fell in love with the action, and the fight, and the determination, and the no guts no glory attitude of Rocky. He was a Champion and I loved that. He won against all odds.

In Rocky III when he destroys Clubber Lang after taking a loss and a beating in their first fight I was totally pumped up. They came out with the “eye of the tiger” song as the movie theme and Rocky is training like crazy and he is focused it awesome! I can’t watch Rocky movies and not get excited!

My girl friend at the time would say whats the big deal and I would say “you just don’t understand this is Rocky” I can still see my self throwing left hooks and right jabs from my spot on the couch, bobbing and weaving for days after I saw the movie. I love boxing and Rocky / Sylvester Stallone have played a huge part in that. I believe those movies played a huge part in boxing all together.

So for Rocky 7 “Creed.” I’m all in, I can’t wait, – its like hoping for Floyd Mayweather to fight Manny Pacquiao, but this will happen and I will enjoy it much more for the $11.00 movie ticket vs. the hundreds I will spend  watching  Floyd and Manny dance for 36 minutes.

The first Rocky movie was one of the best movies about boxing ever made, the training, acting, boxing scenes were revolutionary in movie/ boxing history.
My Mother and Father had not attended a movie for years when I took them to see “Rocky “. My Dad was swinging punches in his seat as we watched.
The next morning I put a tape of the Rocky Theme music on and woke everyone up with Rocky.
    Good blog Glassjaw!
