The Oscar Floyd Saga / Letter.

Why did Oscar De La Hoya come out of the closet to trash talk Floyd Mayweather with that open letter. That was very distasteful. I was so disappointed in Oscar, I mean come on man, where is your class. That rant, and that is what that letter was, a rant, was just a ramble of bitterness and jealously. I was embarrassed for you Oscar, I cannot believe you put that garbage out there.

Floyd Mayweather is and always has been Floyd Mayweather. I don’t want to waste time and rehash past articles but seriously Floyd fights Floyds fight, always has always will. It is on the challenger to solve that problem. It is on the challenger to disrupt Floyds style. If they can’t do it they can’t do it. Being the best means adjusting your style and owning your opponent.

To be honest I used to be a big Oscar De La Hoya fight fan, I lost money on the fight between Floyd and Oscar as I had my money on Oscar. But he was to old (he is four years older than Floyd) Remember they fought in 2007, and how old was Oscar then? He was 34 years old? WOW, and how old was Mayweather in his last fight ? 38 years old? So Oscar was done and washed up at 34, but Mayweather was still unbeatable at 38, what a strange comparison. Oscar was a guy who just couldn’t keep up? And he didn’t last. Remember how old Floyd really is in the boxing world, he has been fighting top contenders, and beating top contenders far after his prime.

Leonard Ellerbe wrote a statement debuting Oscars letter, which was a little bit of a rant in itself, but it was a good response. Remember Oscar dressing up like a woman? Remember Oscar in rehab for Cocaine abuse? These things have colored the perspective of how I view Oscar. Floyd has done none of those things (although he has his own demons and colored past). But I guess in this day and age its acceptable to want to be a woman if your a man? Thats not how I think of my heroes, but I guess for some, it’s ok?

At the end of the day, for now, Floyd is retired, let that be then end of it. Let him go. Forget about him. Lets focus on the future and the rising stars ahead of us and leave the memories in the past!
